The Community Center in Texline is celebrating its one-year anniversary.  Celebrations are scheduled for Saturday, July 18th and will last most of the day.

In order to get the entire community involved and to entice visitors from Dalhart, Hartley, Channing and Clayton, a day full of events and exciting activities are planned.

Since its dedication on July 20, 2008, the Center has benefited the community of Texline in numerous ways.  Cindy Schuller, a Physician’s Assistant from Dalhart conducts a clinic every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.  Senior citizens are served meals five days a week at the Center.  The food pantry assists families in need and currently supports 20 families.  Clark and Melody Becker head the Mennonite Youth Program, which also runs the food pantry.

The Center is available for parties, reunions, meetings or other activities and may be rented as needed.  And of course, holding community activities like the upcoming anniversary celebration is a highly anticipated use for the center.

The Texline Celebration will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a craft show at the school gymnasium.  At 10:00 a.m. fun and games will begin near the center. Games are planned for all age groups and everyone is encouraged to join in the fun.  An antique car show will be going on all day next to the Texline High School gymnasium.  For the sporting visitor,

a trap shoot is planned.  All farmers, hunters, and motorcyclists are urged to visit the custom ear mold booth where insta-mold ear protection is made right on site in about 30 minutes and in many different colors.

A noon meal of barbecue beef and pork will be served.  Donations will be accepted.  All entry fees and proceeds from the celebration will benefit the Texline Volunteer Fire Department Building Fund and the Community Center.
