Rarely do I wait until Wednesday morning to write my column. Time slips away and the noon deadline draws uncomfortably close. Last night, troubled by the cares of the day, I just went to bed! I did, however, remind God I had a deadline.
Just as dawn broke, I brewed one of my favorite flavored coffees and settled into a rocker in my sunroom that overlooks my backyard. In the dim light I saw the empty corn trough out by the tool shed, donned my yard shoes and plodded through wet grass to fill it. I returned to my comfy spot and silently waited for an idea to show up!
Between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. a doe gracefully leaped the fence and gazed toward the trough. Seeing her daily breakfast of “frosted flakes” had been provided, she slowly moved across the yard to fill her belly. (She comes every morning.)
