     Title: Boots, buckles and barbed wire - It’s XIT time

The 77th XIT Rodeo and Reunion XIT Directors and their wives along with the XIT Rodeo and Reunion Queen Candidates will dust off their best hats, shine up their belt buckles, brush off their boots, starched their symbolic white western shirts and begin pasting the town today. By 10:00 a.m. this morning local businesses’ windows will be filled with the large posters advertising this year’s 77th Annual Rodeo and Reunion. New t-shirts with this year’s design will go one sale as well as tickets for the Melodrama promoting the legendary event.

The 77th XIT Rodeo and Reunion XIT Directors and their wives along with the XIT Rodeo and Reunion Queen Candidates will dust off their best hats, shine up their belt buckles, brush off their boots, starched their symbolic white western shirts and begin pasting the town today. By 10:00 a.m. this morning local businesses’ windows will be filled with the large posters advertising this year’s 77th Annual Rodeo and Reunion. New t-shirts with this year’s design will go one sale as well as tickets for the Melodrama promoting the legendary event.
Entertainment for this year’s annual event will be County Road 5 on Thursday, August 1, Cody Johnson Band on Friday, August 2 and JB and the Moonshine Band on Saturday, August 3. The schedule of events opens with the Little Mr. & Miss. XIT Pageant on Saturday, July 20. Contestants for the Little Mr. or Miss. pageant must live in Dallam or Hartley County and must be three or four years old on the day of the pageant. Entry forms are available for download or may be picked up at the Dalhart Chamber of Commerce. The following Saturday, July 27 the Junior Rodeo will be held. There are four age classes in which cowboys and cowgirls can enter. Entry fees for ages 0-6 are $5 and entry fees for ages 7-16 is $15 per event. On Wednesday, July 31 PRPC Steer Roping Slack will be held.
