Title: Jotting Judi - SOLD! UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT

By REV. JUDI WIEGMAN

February, 2008: I traded life in the “Big D,” Dallas and moved to “Little D,” Dalhart to be near one of my children and his growing family. For several weeks he, or his wife, pointed out an ad in the local newspaper; WRITER NEEDED.

February, 2008: I traded life in the “Big D,” Dallas and moved to “Little D,” Dalhart to be near one of my children and his growing family. For several weeks he, or his wife, pointed out an ad in the local newspaper; WRITER NEEDED.
April, 2008: Armed with a few samples of my published items, I walked into the office of Susan Clay for a morning meeting. I can’t speak for her, but for me; instant bond.  Enthusiasm for her newspaper, the town and its people danced in her voice.  I loved her accent. (She is the only person I know who can make two syllables out of the word “porch.”) I got the job. One of the tasks assigned to me was the Faith and Religion page, in Friday’s paper.  It was a combination of news items from local churches along with a listing of the churches and their times of service.
June, 2008: Jotting Judi emerged as a regular column on that page and, to my delight, has continued for five years.  It survived the un-scheduled move we made from Dalhart back to Dallas in November of 2011 and a second move from Dallas to Pittsburgh in 2013. As Susan put it, “You have a computer, write.”
