Title: Jotting Judi - The Circle of Life
By REV. JUDI WIEGMAN
A favorite Disney movie that children of all ages watch over and over is Lion King.  I’m sure you’ve seen it; the story of Simba, a lion cub, who grows up on the Savannahs of Africa.  His father, Mufasa, is King and Simba, his son, is destined to take his place; an animal portrayal of the circle of life.

It calls to mind the dramatic scene in the Roots saga of Kunta Kinte when the baby is lifted up before all the tribes. It reminds me of those precious moments in families when a newborn is taken to the church and presented at the altar of God in dedication.  The “roots” of these experiences reflect the presentation of baby Jesus by His parents in the temple at Jerusalem.  It is the circle of life.
