An officer played taps at a memorial ceremony at the site of the fire and explosion in West, Texas on Wednesday, April 24. The explosion at West Fertilizer that killed 14 people and injured hundreds left a crater more than 90 feet wide, blasted the walls and windows off dozens of buildings and destroyed numerous homes in the town of 2,700.
The Texas A&M AgriLIFE Extension Service office in Dalhart sponsored “Dallam & Hartley 4-H Clubs Operation Immediate Response for West, Texas”. The event worked in conjunction with United Supermarket and collected donations for victims and emergency responders involved in the after effects of the fertilizer plant explosion.
