Gordon Mote will perform at the La Rita Performing Arts Theatre on Saturday, May 4 at 7:00 p.m. Mote, an awarding winning pianist, plays southern gospel music. His roots date back to rural Alabama where he faced many challenges during his childhood and youth. Mote and his brother were born totally blind, which made them different from their peers, but Mote never considered his blindness a handicap.
The Mote family lived by God’s word and the promises he makes to his children. Mote’s parents continuously encouraged their sons and instilled in them they could excel in the path they chose, as long as Christ was at the center of their goals and life.
Excelling came very naturally to the Mote brothers. They enjoyed professional baseball, football and basketball and their college team, the Alabama Crimson Tide. Mote found his love, music. There was no doubt he was blessed with the gift of music, His parents encouraged him to perfect his God given talents.
