The second Annual CASA Super Heroes 5K and Fun Run were held Saturday, April 6 beginning at 8:00 a.m. The Fun Run kicked off while the morning was still cool and brisk but that didn’t discourage the group that registered to run for the cause.
The 5K Super Heroes began appearing at First State Bank around 8:30 a.m. for the annual event. Registration was held, prayers were offered for the CASA kids and the participants, the race horn was blown, red balloons were released and in less than an hour there was conversation about next years 5K run.
Thirty six participants from the ROC’s recent 12 week Bible study and Run For God program ran for the kids. The group consisted of children and adults. The ROC hosted a 13 week Bible study and met to train during the week. The benefit from the program was not only spiritual but proved to have great health benefits. “One gentleman’s cholesterol dropped 50 points during the program,” stated Jennifer Been, group spoke person.
