     Title: Gilbert named Citizen of the Year

The Chamber of Commerce announced Dalhart’s 2012 Citizen of the Year at a banquet held Thursday evening, April 4 at Rita Blanca Coliseum.  Mr. Donald E. Gilbert was honored at the banquet for his outstanding accomplishments and achievements.

The Chamber of Commerce announced Dalhart’s 2012 Citizen of the Year at a banquet held Thursday evening, April 4 at Rita Blanca Coliseum.  Mr. Donald E. Gilbert was honored at the banquet for his outstanding accomplishments and achievements.
Gilbert was born in Blue Ridge, Texas to Nina and Jess Gilbert.   Gilbert attended elementary school at Blue Ridge and graduated high school in Marlin, TX. Gilbert attended Oklahoma City University and SMU where he met Lynn Spencer his future wife. Gilbert and his wife, the former Lynne Spencer have three children and six grandchildren.  Lynn is a long time resident of Dalhart and the daughter of Dan Spencer a successful business man in Dalhart.
The couples three children are; Douglas Gilbert, retired Lt. Colonel and his wife Melinda reside in Lansing, KS and have three children, Kimberly, Kathleen and Sean. Lea Ann (Gilbert) and John Scholfield reside in Huntington Beach, CA with Natalie and Mike. Linda (Gilbert) and Keith Puckett reside on southwest Kansas on their cattle ranch with their son, Keith. Central United Methodist Church of Dalhart is the Gilbert’s church home, where the couple married and raised their children.
