When the community thinks of volunteers, Ted Hoover always comes to mind. Hoover has worked relentlessly to raise money for cancer research and patients that have been stricken with the terrible “C word.”
Each year during the spring and summer season Hoover embarks on a mission to cut every lawn in Dalhart at least five times each for “Mowing Down Cancer.” He donates all the money raised to research and assistance programs many people turn to during their combat with cancer. In addition, he cleans windows for the cause and participates in Relay for Life, Clean-Up Cancer -- formerly Cargill Cares and the food drive for the men’s mission.
