The regular monthly meeting of the Dalhart Independent School District (DISD) was held Wednesday, February 20 at 6:00 a.m.
Scott Hand made an in depth presentation to the DISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent David Foote regarding the upgrades and the explanation of benefits and cost for the additional band width. Hand illustrated how the districts internet service is used and his capability to restrict users that are using a large amount of the band width streaming news, down loading you tube videos and other programs that are used at Dalhart Elementary School for educational purposes. Hand also explained to the DISD Board of Trustees that currently there are 1000 computers and 100 IPads that are owned by the district and using the DISD internet service and an additional 500 to 600 devices that are not owned by the district that have the capability to use the districts service.
Hand stated, “I want to make sure we have enough (internet service) without over buying.” Foote added, “I see having a device (computer) for every kid at the high school in the near future.”
