     Title: DHS students selected for All-State Band

Lea Baumert and Jerrick Cendejas participated in an audition for The Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) on Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Lubbock. The two high school musicians were selected as members of the 2013 ATSSB band.

Lea Baumert and Jerrick Cendejas participated in an audition for The Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) on Saturday, January 12, 2013 in Lubbock. The two high school musicians were selected as members of the 2013 ATSSB band.
More than 9,000 high school bands students from across Texas auditioned in twenty different regions for a place in their respective all region bands. The top chairs in each region advanced to one of the five area auditions held on January 12 across the state. Only 240 of the 1360 students were selected for the all-state honor.
The ATSSB All-State Band will meet in rehearsals in San Antonio February 13 through February 16, the All-State Band concert will be held on Saturday, February 16 in the Lila Cockrell Theatre of the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center in downtown San Antonio at 9:30 a.m.
Baumert a flautist is the daughter of Denise and Peter Baumert. The high school flautist is under the direction of Dalhart High School (DHS) Band director, Jim Paslay. Renowned flautist Helen Blackburn is Baumert’s private instructor. She also participates in drama, UIL, Small Schools, and National Honor Society and is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints. Baumert also enjoys playing the piano.
