By RODNEY WHITE

The Golden Wolves staff and players were recognized for their hard work and great effort with the announcement of the All-District team members.  Dalhart was well represented and although not everyone that should have made the team was selected, Coach Stephen Young was pleased with the outcome.  The Dalhart Golden Wolves spectacular District co-championship season was capped off with the Coach of the Year, District MVP, Offensive MVP, and 10 Golden Wolves being selected to the 1-3A All-District Team.  Five players made the first team, five the second team, and six players were chosen as honorable mention.

The motto this year was “Whatever comes at you, STAY TOGETHER”.  Young stated, “We are very proud of this group of young men for making the playoffs for the seventh year in a row and passing the baton on to the next group of seniors.”
Young was selected as the Coach of the Year.  He has compiled a record of 50 victories and 29 losses in his seven years at Dalhart.  Seven years is the longest that any head coach has ever stayed as the Dalhart head coach, which says a lot about Young’s commitment to Dalhart and the young people in the program.  That is a winning percentage of 63 percent, which if you compare to other AAA coaches in our district and area is outstanding.  Young is currently ranked 35th out of 183 AAA coaches in the state in total wins.  Danny Servance of Lubbock Estacado is 48th with a record of 37-32, Kyle Maxfield of Shallowater is 54 with a record of 35-11, Heath Parker of Pampa is 59th with a record of 31-36, David Flowers of Perryton is 109th, with a record of 11-12, Jayme Carr of River Road is 158 with a record of 4-16 and James Day of Borger is 169 with a record of 2-9.
