By JUDI WIEGMAN
Looking out my kitchen window, I’m watching the slow moving gray clouds as they float across the sky. They don’t seem to be in a hurry to get where they’re going. Instead, they are taking drifting along before revealing an incredible sight; the rising of the sun as it casts its amazing colors, illuminating the sky. It is as though God is saying, “Slow down, Judi, take time to look. Go outside and drink from my cup this morning.” Who could turn that invitation down?
With coffee cup in hand I head for the door as the “canary” beeps on my phone alerting me that someone needs me. Ah! But this time, I don’t give in—I’m grasping my cup a little tighter and heading out the door leaving this writing and the cell phone behind. (Intermission)
There is a message in the foregoing paragraphs for all of us; slow down. After George Bush left the presidency and returned to his ranch in Texas, he told reporters that life had returned to square one, much like it was when he and Barbara were first married. He reported making the coffee while Barbara made the bed. He said, “She does the cooking, I do the dishes and life is absolutely wonderful. I’ve concluded after being the President of the United States that it is family, friends, and faith that mean everything.”
