     Title: Jotting Judi - Legacy
By REV. JUDI WIEGMAN
Just a few weeks ago my mother-in-law transitioned from this life to her forever home in heaven.  Before her passing, she lived in a nursing home as a resident of an Alzheimer’s unit.  This debilitating disease had taken her memory of us from her and for far too long she lay silent; lost in her thoughts.

At her memorial service one of my husband’s sisters gave him one of his mother’s Bibles that she faithful read and wrote in from 1979. It wound up on my desk and I began to scan through the pages stopping where she had made a notation to see what words of wisdom I might find. In weeks to come, I will treasure returning to this legacy and search out “hidden manna” for my own spiritual walk.
Having this memory of her triggered me to search my shelves for other pieces of legacy to strengthen my day.  I spied a very old book that didn’t resemble the Bibles of today. Opening the front cover, I learned it was published in 1892 by the American Bible Society and, they printed 20,000 copies.
