Title: Offensive explosion by Wolves dooms Dumas

By RODNEY WHITE

The Golden Wolves 23-0 lead at halftime was all they would need to defeat the Dumas Demons as Dalhart running back Terrell Burks rushed 14 times for 140 yards and Val Diaz carried 16 times for 219 yards to set the tone for the game.  The Dalhart defense led by Oscotty Castro, who did everything in the game except carry the ball, was again dominant, limiting Dumas to 226 yards of total offense with most of that coming in the fourth quarter.

Dalhart won the toss and elected to put their vaunted defense on the field to start the game.  Dumas was forced to punt and Dalhart took over at the 32.  A 10 yard pass to Dominic Baca from Skylar Wilt gave the Wolves a first down at the 43.  Baca then carried for six more yards to the 49.  Val Diaz carried the ball for 29 yards to the 20.  The Wolves faced a third and four at the 13 but a personal foul against Dumas gave Dalhart a first down at the five.  Another personal foul moved the ball to the 2 ½ yard line.  Great blocking by Castro and Javier Torres opened a hole for Burks to get the first score of the night.  After the extra point kick by Castro, the Wolves led 7-0 with 6:57 left in the first quarter.
