Eleven chuckwagons were invited to the Chuckwagon Gathering that were selected from across the West as historically accurate in the detail of their construction and overall historic presentation. The Wagon’s cooks are experts at preparing food over an open fire using only ingredients available in the late 1800’s using skills and recipes that have been passed down through generations of cowboys and ranch families. Our "cookies" invited you to smell the aroma of brisket, coffee, biscuits and mesquite, to ask questions and most importantly, to sample the cowboy fare with the same gusto that cowpokes did along the trail and on the range more than 100 years ago. Between 7,000 and 8,000 were served samples over the two day period. Red Steagall, Don Edwards and others performed on stage over the week-end.

The C Bar C Chuckwagon Team also cooked a Chuckwagon Meal for the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Trail Ride on May, 16. This was near the XIT Rangers Building in Dalhart.
