Fire ends well for departments

A fire at Wilder Farms Corporation lead to a donation by the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Companies to both the Dalhart and Texline Fire Departments.  The donations are part of the insurance company’s policy to provide funds to fire departments that fight fires in rural areas and involve properties insured by the Texas Farm Bureau.

Members of the Dalhart Fire Department as well as the Texline Fire Department were dispatched and responded to the fire on FM 3110.  The fire was confined to a structure on farm property.  Fire Chief Curtis Brown of the Dalhart Fire Department stated, “We have been out to that property on some grass fires, but the one that lead to the donation was a structure fire.  Most people remember that property as the old Harold Meyers farm.”

According to a spokesperson for the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Companies, “The insurance company believes fire departments have contributed to reduce the amount of loss involved by fire and more importantly, to prevent fires.  It is our hope that this money will help the Dalhart and Texline Fire Departments in their programs.”

The funds were also given as an expression of thanks for the efforts of both fire departments during the Wilder Farms fire.  The money is expected to go toward each department’s loss prevention program.
