Texas Comptroller to speak in Dalhart
Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, Susan Combs, will speak in Dalhart on Friday, May 8th beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the First National Bank Building located at 302 Denrock Avenue, Room 302. The scheduled talk is an overview of the Texas economy. Ms. Combs will accept questions from the audience after she speaks.
Ms. Combs was elected in November, 2006 and began her official duties on January 1, 2007. The Texas Comptroller’s office was originally created by the Texas provisional government in 1835. The Comptroller is the chief steward of the state’s finances, acting as tax collector, chief accountant, chief revenue estimator and chief treasurer for all of state government. Ms. Combs manages the state’s treasury operations to monitor Texas’ fiscal health, guides legislative decision makers by estimating state revenues and ensures state taxes are collected fairly and efficiently to fund vital programs and services for the people of Texas.
