Hartley County seeking Democratic Chair
By Robin Scott
A vacancy exists in Hartley County for the Hartley County Democratic Chair. The County Chairs across Texas are responsible for much of the work of the Texas Democratic Party. Responsibilities include running the Democratic primaries, organizing the precinct and county/senate district conventions and encouraging Democratic voters to get out to the polls during the general election.
The need for a Hartley County Democratic Chair is so strong that no Democratic primary was held in Hartley County on March 2nd. County Chairs and County Parties are crucial to the efforts of the Democratic Party.
The TDP offers many opportunities for citizens to become involved, from learning how to head up a campaign, to posting a sign in the front yard, to going door-to-door to provide valuable information about voting, candidates and issues. The County Chair has the responsibility of coordinating efforts with volunteers to ensure that efforts are maximized.
Hartley County is largely a Republican Party county, but members of the Democratic Party exist within the county. One way to stay connected to the TDP is via their website. The easy-to-use site provides information on every topic important to Texas citizens, and includes press releases, commentaries and ways to find information. A Hartley County Democrat need not feel isolated with such a vast amount of resources available with just a click of the mouse.
