St. Anthony’s Catholic School Celebrates Catholic Education
Dalhart, TX – An open house, new service projects, and many fun activities highlight this year’s observance of Catholic Schools Week at St. Anthony Catholic School. The events are part of the nationwide celebration of Catholic education during the week of Jan. 31 – Feb 6. This year’s theme, “Catholic Schools: Dividends for Life,” underscores the commitment of schools like St. Anthony Catholic School to offer the foundation in faith, knowledge, morals and discipline that prepares students for successful lives.
The students are raising funds for the American Red Cross specifically Haiti Relief and Development. Students are also be writing letters to local military servicemen and collecting loose change to donate to the Dalhart Elks Lodge “Support Our Troops for Overseas” program. As a final service project the students are collecting coloring books and band-aids for Northwest Children’s Hospital.
St. Anthony Catholic School will hold an open house from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 4th. Faculty and staff will be on hand to discuss the curriculum and demonstrate how new technology is being utilized in the classrooms. During this time, the Scholastic Book Fair will be open in the library for the students and community to purchase books. In conjunction with this open house and book fair, St. Anthony Home and School Association will be hosting a pulled pork dinner in the Parish Hall for current students and their families as well as prospective students and their families.
Catholic Schools Week is a joint project of the National catholic Educational Association and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
