The Progressive Dairyman magazine caters to dairymen nationwide and is headquartered in Jerome, Idaho with Northwest, Southwest, Midwest and East coast editions.  Methvin added, “The top twenty dairy states are ranked according to the total pounds of milk  production with Texas being ranked number seven.”

Methvin and her husband, Sam, own a back-grounding feedlot in the Dalhart area.  The Methvin’s have three children.  Ted Methvin is a dentist and a graduate of Texas Tech and Baylor University.  Ted is married to Angela Braud who is an attorney.  They live in Natchitoches, LA with their three children.  Holley Methvin is a teacher and homemaker and is married to Fernando Bustos who is an attorney in Lubbock.  Holley and her husband have made the Methvin’s the proud grandparents of eight grandchildren.    Matthew Methvin does corporate taxes and works in the tax and auditing department for Raytheon in Dallas.  He graduated from Dalhart High School and Texas Tech and received his Master’s Degree from the University of Texas.

The Methvins have resided in Dalhart for the past 22 years.  Methvin has been employed by DISD since moving to Texas.  She has composite science teaching credentials, a Master’s of Education in Science and English.  In addition she has Mid-Management and Superintendent certifications.  She served as Assistant Principal at Dalhart High School, Principal at Allyn Finch Intermediate School and currently works as K-12 Federal Programs and Curriculum Director.   She was born and raised in Louisiana.

The Methvin family has always been in the cattle ranching business and owned a ranch along the Red River in Natchitoches, LA prior to moving to the Flint Hills in Kansas.  In the late 1980’s they became interested in re-locating their family business to the Dalhart area.
