“An Evening in December” is a quartet ensemble music performance and its cast includes some of Dalhart’s favorite singers: Becky Seal, Vickie Moore, Matt Turner and Shane Turner. The performers, all well-known and established members of the community, will entertain the audience during the hour and a half long show.
Becky Seal was born in Monroe, Louisiana. She met her husband, Bing, in Picayune, Mississippi. Bing and Becky moved to Dalhart in 1980 when Bing began his agency with State Farm Insurance. Becky enjoys singing, outdoor activities, and traveling in her fifth wheel. Bing and Becky have driven their RV to many destinations but their favorite location is Albuquerque, NM, where they spend time with their son, Kenny and his wife, Starla.
Vickie Moore was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas. She met the love of her life, David Moore, at Texas Tech University. After graduating with a degree in Music Education, Vickie and David moved to Dalhart and have lived here for the past 26 years. Vickie has a private music studio where she teaches voice and piano lessons. The Moore’s have three children: Ben, who is the contemporary worship pastor at First Baptist Church in Wichita Falls along with his wife Kirsten, Matt, who is in his second year at Texas Tech University, and Molly, who is a senior at Dalhart High School. Vickie enjoys traveling with David, cooking, reading, playing the piano, singing with her dear friends and attending Molly’s senior activities.
Matt Turner, MD was born and raised in Amarillo. He and his wife Christi, and their family moved to Dalhart in 1996. He received his Medical Doctorate from the University of Texas UTMB in Galveston. He then served 6 years in the Navy, completing his Family Practice training in Jacksonville, Florida. After a tour of duty at RAF Edzell, Scotland, he left the Navy and returned to the Panhandle to establish his practice in Dalhart. Matt and his high school sweetheart have been married for 23 years. They have five children: Scotty, Michael, Nicholas, Elissa, and Benjamin. Matt has been singing most of his life, but he counts signing in the quartet concerts at the La Rita performances as the highlight of his singing career.
Shane Turner was born and raised in nearby Dumas. As the son of a Baptist music minister, music has always been an important part of his daily life. After receiving Bachelor’s and Juris Doctorate Degrees from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, Shane and his beautiful wife, Krista, returned to the Panhandle to begin his law practice with the Dalhart legal firm of Hunter & Oelke. In addition to his private practice, Shane has also served as the Hartley County Attorney since 2003. Shane and Krista are the proud parents of two boys, Matthew, 9, and Morgan, 4, both of whom have inherited their father’s love of music. Shane’s other interests include hunting, fishing, golf and backpacking. He lists the privilege of performing at the La Rita Theater as one of the highlights of his life in Dalhart.
