Dangerously cold temps in the forecast

Freezing fog this week led to frosted trees throughout Dalhart. Temperatures have been below the freezing mark since Tuesday and are expected to remain below freezing for at least the next several days. Snow is in the forecast for this weekend, as well as dangerously cold wind chill temperatures. According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, Dalhart can expect wind chills of negative 24 degrees on Sunday morning, negative 27 degrees Monday morning and negative 13 degrees Tuesday morning. The high temperature Sunday is forecasted at six degrees. Light snow of less than inch is possible Friday night into Saturday morning for the northern and eastern panhandles. Wide-spread snow with higher accumulations is expected to begin Saturday night through Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service in Amarillo.
