Five acres burn south of Kerrick

Approximately five acres burned in a grass fire late Wednesday evening. Dalhart firefighters were called to the scene of the fire at approximately 9:15 p.m. five miles south of Kerrick on FM 807 in Dallam County. Dalhart Fire Chief Curtis Brown said the fire began off of the road and the exact cause of the fire was not determined. In addition to four Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department units, the Stratford Fire Department, Stratford EMS, Sherman County Sheriff’s Office, and the Dallam County Sheriff’s Office responded to the fire. A maintainer from Dallam County was also utilized to contain the fire.
