Local sales tax allocations up, despite state-wide decrease

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar has announced that his office will distribute $751 million in monthly sales tax allocations for October. 

The total amount of $751.5 million is based on sales made in August and is down 2.8 percent from the October 2019 allocation. 

Across the state, cities are expected to receive $486.3 million, counties will receive $46.6 million, transit systems will receive $159 million, and special purpose taxing districts will receive $59.6 million. 

The City of Dalhart is expected to receive $208,904.05, up 2.23 percent over the previous year’s allocation of $204,330.22. So far this year, the city has received $2,182,828.08. That’s up 5.42 percent over same time period last year.
