Sheriff warns Dallam County residents of phone scam

A caller claiming to be an officer with the Dallam County Sheriff’s Office has reportedly contacted several county residents demanding payment for outstanding warrants and threatening to arrest individuals if they do not send money. 

Dallam County Sheriff Shane Stevenson said these phone calls are not from a representative of his office, and his office posted a statement on social media last week labeling these phone calls as a scam. 

“I don’t have a lieutenant, and I don’t have any deputies with the last name Richards,” Stevenson said.
