Texline receives over seven inches of rain as drought conditions improve

Drought conditions across the area have improved, with the U.S. Drought Monitor reporting Thursday that drought conditions in Hartley and Dallam County categorized as moderate to severe. That’s an improvement over the extreme drought conditions reported earlier this summer. 

The improvement comes as July has seen heavy rainfall throughout the northern and western portions of the panhandle. According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, through July 18 a total of 7.3 inches of rain fell in Texline.
