Freezing weather cancels parade, causes outages

Freezing temperatures caused a change in plans for the annual Veterans Day activities, as well as caused power outages in the area. 

The official temperature from the National Weather Service put Dalhart at 20 degrees with a wind chill of one degree as of 9 a.m. yesterday. Freezing drizzle was also reported. 

Rita Blanca Electric Cooperative reported a wide spread outage Monday morning. Crews were working to restore power as quickly as possible. Ice and wind caused galloping power lines.
