Local districts receive perfect scores for financial ratings

Preliminary financial accountability ratings for Texas public and charter schools were released last week by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). These ratings are for the 2018-2019 school year and are based on financial reports provided by the districts to the TEA from 2017-2018.

A total of 15 indicators are used to calculate the ratings, on an A through F report card rating. Indicators include administrative cost expenditures, the accuracy of a district or charter’s financial information submitted to TEA, and any financial vulnerabilities or material weaknesses in internal controls as determined by an external auditor.
