The domestic violence and abuse services agency for the northwest panhandle announced late last month that it will limit the services offered as the agency works with the Texas Rangers as part of an ongoing investigation into claims of misuse of grant funds.

The board of directors for Safe Place, Inc. of Dumas made the announcement June 26 as shelter and administrative staff layoffs went into immediate effect.

The announcement was posted to the agency’s Facebook page, citing an allegation of misuse of grant funds by a former employee as the cause for the action.
