Individuals are prohibiting from shooting fireworks in the Dalhart city limits.

Anyone caught shooting fireworks in city limits could be fined and fireworks could be confiscated. There will be no warnings issued, said fire marshal Curtis Brown. Tickets will be issued for any offense, he said.

Though it’s not as dry this year as this time most years, Brown said there are still fire hazards associated with shooting fireworks. One is that many houses and buildings in town have wood shingles, and fireworks that land on a roof could spark a fire.
