An air ambulance from Rico Aviation lands at the site of the wreck on Highway 385 south of Channing on Monday. Cristian Soto-Ruiz, 26, of Dalhart, was transported to Northwest Texas  Hospital and later to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Okla., where he remains in critical condition.

In Friday's edition of The Dalhart Texan, a story is published regarding the fatality accident on Highway 385 near Channing that occurred Tuesday, April 28. The information in the story cites the report released by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) on Wednesday evening.
However, DPS released a second report with corrected information Thursday after the Friday edition was printed.

The information released in the original report stated Samual Garrett, 27, of Mosca, Colo., was traveling north on Highway 385 south of Channing behind Christopher Goodson, 56, of Dalhart, who was driving a 2001 Peterbilt. The original report also stated that Garrett said Goodson reportedly slammed on his brakes because of a semi-truck that was reportedly legally parked on the shoulder.

In the corrected report released by DPS, it is stated that Goodson was traveling behind Garrett, and that an additional, uninvolved semi-truck slammed on its brakes in front of Garrett due to the semi-truck parked on the shoulder of the highway. Garrett then reportedly swerved into the southbound lane of traffic in a no-passing zone and into the path of Cristian Soto-Ruiz, 26, of Dalhart.

The crash was investigated by the Texas Highway Patrol troopers and remains under investigation.
