Dalhart Lady Wolves defeat Levelland Loboetts
The Lady Wolves Freshmen, JV, and Varsity teams played host to the Levelland Lady Loboetts on Saturday. Unfortunately for Levelland, Dalhart was not a very good host as all three Dalhart teams came away with wins and did not lose a single game in the three matches played. The freshmen won 25-13, 25-8 and the JV 25-11, 25-7. The varsity followed suit with a three game win in their match, 25-10, 25-11, 25-6.
In game one the tone was set with two quick serving aces from Benji Romero. A serving error turned the ball over with a 3-1 lead for the Wolves. Dalhart continued to roll with several kills from Molly Kruse, Shelby Wilt and Mallory Jeffers. A serve receive error turned the ball over to Levelland with the Lady Wolves ahead, 11-7.
A kill by Abbie Steele gave the ball back to Dalhart and the team went on a 13-3 run which was capped off with an ace by Brynn Dunham. Dalhart took the first game 25-10.
The Wolves spotted Levelland the first point with a serve receive error. Afterwards, kills from Molly Moore and Mallory Jeffers helped the Lady Wolves pull ahead and an ace from Jeffers gave Dalhart a 15-5 lead and forced Levelland to call a timeout. Two aces from Riley Dunham and kills from Katelyn Albers gave Dalhart a 21-6 lead. Two consecutive serve receive errors gave Levelland a couple of quick points but Dalhart got the ball back and Molly Moore finished the game with a kill to give Dalhart a 25-11 win in game two.
Molly Moore started game three with a kill followed by two aces from Albers and another kill from Sarah Cover to give Dalhart 4-0 lead. Shelby Wilt continued her dominance at the serving line against Levelland with five aces in the third game to help her team to a 25-6 win.
The Lady Wolves played well at the net without the services of Marlee Reynolds who came in briefly at the start of game three. Reynolds is giving a sore shoulder some needed rest.
The Lady Wolves are now 28-9 with a game against Perryton being played on Tuesday at Perryton. The team will host Lubbock Cooper on Saturday.
