State sales tax revenue up for December

Sales tax revenues for the State of Texas totaled $2.87 billion for the month of December, up 4.7 percent over December 2017, according to information released by the office of Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar last week.

“Growth in state sales tax revenue continues to be led by remittances from oil and gas-related sectors,” Hegar said in a released statement. “The year-over-year rate of growth has moderated, as expected, due to strong collections from a year ago as well as the decline in the price of crude oil.”
