Reminiscing time near
By Nathan French
Reminisce is defined in the Webster’s Dictionary as “to recall the past.” We all from time to time reminisce of past days regardless of our age. We recall people, places, and events from our past; those objects, places, and individuals who helped us define who we are today. Reminiscing serves as an avenue for us to not forget the past; but rather let it linger in our mind, celebrating those joyous past occasions and the people who had a great impact in who we are today.
The time for reminiscing of those waning school yard days is near. Whether it be laughing over pranks pulled in school, celebrating that unforgettable play that led Dalhart to that unbelievable win, or the bittersweet memories of fellow classmates lost along the way, the time for all Dalhart students of the past to come together in celebration of their Dalhart school days is fast approaching.
The Dalhart All School Reunion hosted by the Dalhart Ex-Students Association will begin on Friday, October 16th and continue through Saturday, October 17th. Registration for the reunion will be held at Lakeview Methodist Church Fellowship Hall located at 1401 Walnut Ave. Registration on Friday will go from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
The Ex-Student Association has worked extra hard to make this reunion an extra memorable one. Friday’s events begin with a Pep Rally at the new Dalhart High School, a pre-game supper at 5:00 p.m. at the DHS Cafeteria, a Dalhart football game (Dalhart vs. Borger) at 7:00 p.m., and a Reunion Mixer from 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. at DHS Cafeteria. Saturday starts with Class Mixers at Rita Blanca Coliseum from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. followed by a tour of the new high school. A Business Banquet and Reception from 7:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. including a dance and all school mixer will bring the reunion to a close.
We at the Texan know the importance of reminiscing of times past, and will be including a commemorative section on the All School Reunion in the Friday, October 16 edition of the newspaper. We know that there is nothing quite like recognizing our past, celebrating long-ago triumphs with people who made a difference in our lives, and raising a toast to surviving it all. All School Reunion, a sure way to reminisce.
