Gardening with minimal water

Maintaining a green lawn can involve quite a bit of work – and a lot of water. For Annette Melius and her husband, Allyn, though, paying the high water bills got to be tiring. The ongoing cycle of watering the grass, the grass growing and needing to be mowed, was a lot of work.

When she went to her nephew’s graduation at Arizona State University ten years ago, Annette came back with some gardening ideas, as an alternative to grass. “If I don’t have to mow, I’ll do anything,” Allyn said, agreeing with her plans.
