THE DALHART TEXAN

Dalhart has grown in population and in importance to this area and passed a number of milestones along the way over the past 100+ years. These milestones include its founding (with the funny name of Twist Junction) near the XIT Ranch at the location where two railroad lines crossed; changing the name to Denrock and then Dalhart shortly thereafter; becoming the county seat of Dallam County and building an historic courthouse; building a school that would eventually expand to four different campuses; and the opening of a hospital that would eventually expand as well, just to name a few.

Another milestone will be passed on Monday June 4, as the first classes are held in the Louise & Gene Rahll Education Center of Frank Phillips College-Dalhart. An open house and ribbon cutting will be held on Saturday June 9 to give the public a chance to tour the new facility, which will give those in Dalhart and the surrounding an area a chance to further their education without having to drive to Amarillo or Canyon or Goodwell, OK or the main Frank Phillips College campus in Borger.
