THE DALHART TEXAN

The 2018 Republican and Democratic Primary elections are being held today, March 6. All statewide offices are up for election, as are the U.S. Senate seat cur- rently held by Ted Cruz, multiple positions on the Texas Supreme Court and Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, and one Railroad Commission position.

There are also many area positions up for election. The main one that is being contested is the position of State Senator for District 31 in the Republican Primary. Incumbent Kel Seliger is being opposed by Victor Leal and Mike Canon. The winner will basically be assured of a seat in the State Senate, as there are no candidates in the Democratic Primary. All three candidates were interviewed by the Dalhart Texan over the past few weeks.
