Dalhart High junior and Dallam County 4-H member Ben Bezner showed his steer Mufasa at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo last weekend. Bezner’s steer was named Grand Champion Steer at the 2018 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo last weekend. The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo is one of the most prestigious livestock shows in the nation, so having a steer named Grand Champion is quite an honor.

Following the show, the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo Sale of Champions was held on Saturday Feb. 3. More than $3.6 million was collected as the final hammer fell before a standing room only crowd at that sale. Local business owners, executives and individuals were responsible for purchasing 291 steers, barrows, lambs and goats. The sale represents months of hard work by youth and their families from across Texas who labored to condition their animals for the stock show.
