Local law enforcement agencies from Dallam, Hartley and Sherman Counties came together for the first ever Multi-Agency Training, or MAT, Tuesday. The two-part training includes computer software-based simulated videos as well as handson reenactments of traffic stops. The aim of the training is to better equip officers on handling on-the-job-real-life situations.

Dallam, Hartley and Sherman County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Dalhart Police Department, participated in the training. Chanze Fowler, Hartley County Chief Deputy and co-chair of the training committee, says the scenarios that are acted out benefit each officer by allowing them to respond to varying situations and gauge successes as well as ways to respond more effectively.
