Corn crop on pace, despite obstacles

While heat stress in July and cooler-than-average temperatures in late August may have caused some
delays in corn production for the area, Dallam-Hartley AgriLife Extension agent Mike Bragg said the crop
remains mostly on schedule.

“I really think we’re basically on schedule. The cooler weather that we’ve had the last half of August has probably extended that a little bit,” he said. “We’re chopping corn or silage right now, and that doesn’t really start until August.”
