Candidates for the two open seats on the Dalhart Independent School District Board of Education answered questions in a town hall style debate Tuesday night.

Hillside Christian Church and The Dalhart Texan partnered for the second of two debates held in anticipation of the upcoming local elections. Last week, candidates for the Dalhart City Council Ward Four seat took the stage.

Candidates Colette Moorhouse, Lysl Vermedahl and Joni Atha were in attendance Tuesday night. Incumbents Doug Claborn and Justin Moore did not attend. All five registered candidates were invited via certified mail sent on April 6.

The candidates began the evening with opening statements. Moorhouse addressed the audience first, followed by Vermedahl and Atha. The candidates rotated who spoke first for each question, in that order, the remainder of the evening. A timer sounded when the candidates reached their two minute limit for each question.
