DACC celebrates Week of the Young Child

Posted by: tdt -

 The Week if the Young Child is held each year to honor young children and thank teachers and all those who make a difference in young children’s lives.

The theme for WOYC-2009 is Bring Communities Together for Children-Children Bring Communities Together and will be celebrated April 19-25.

All young children need and deserve high-quality learning experiences that will prepare them for life. Week of the Young Child is a time to recognize the importance of early learning and early literacy and to celebrate the teachers and policies that bring early childhood education to young children.

Dalhart Area Child Care Center will celebrate with special activities every day including finger painting of the children with local Hartley County deputies, a family hot dog cookout sponsored by United, First National Bank, and Circle H Animal Health, and a Kids for Kids baby food drive for Good Samaritan.

Dallam County Judge David Field signed a proclamation on Tuesday, April 14th, of the WOYC and it reads as follows:

Whereas, the Dalhart Area Child Care Center Inc. and other local organizations, are celebrating the Week of the Young Child, April 19th-25th; and

Whereas, these organizations are working to improve early learning opportunities, including early literacy programs, that can provide a foundation of learning for children in Dallam and Hartley Counties; and

Whereas, teachers and others who make a difference in the lives of young children in Dallam and Hartley Counties deserve thanks and recognition; and

Whereas, public policies that support early learning for all young children are crucial to young children’s futures;

I, David Field, Dallam County Judge, do hereby proclaim April 19th-25th as The Week of the Young Child in Dallam and Hartley Counties and encourage all citizens to work to make a good investment in early childhood in Dallam and Hartley Counties.
