Running for sheriff is ShaneStevenson and Chiz Bell. CurrentSheriff Bruce Scott is not runningfor re-election. Scott is seeking theposition of Constable in DallamCounty. The other race is Dallam CountyJustice of the Peace. Carol Smith,who has been the justice of the peacethe past year, was appointed to thatposition by the Dallam CountyCommissioners after Rita Little, theformer justice of the peace, resignedand moved from Dalhart. Smithhad been her secretary for years andhad a lot of knowledge in the office.Running for that position is GingerCleavinger, who ran last year, alongwith several other candidates.
