The crowd goes wild. Purple and Gold streamers unite in cheering their team to victory. Each patron has the war paint of the wolf emblazoned upon their cheek; ready to fight for victory. Victory that illuminates when determination, hard work, preparation, and talent culminate together; it is a hard combination to beat. A wolf pack united promises success, and for this coming season that is what Dalhart is cheering for.

Yes, football season is nearing. Two-a-day practices are in full swing, and the fighting Wolves are preparing for a new football season. With that season comes the Dalhart Texan’s football pages and annual football contest. The football pages and contest pay tribute to the inner football fan in all of us. A hearty contest of football fans who play the odds and articulate the art of guessing to hold the title of the best speculator in all of the wolf’s den.

The football pages featuring the contest entry form will be published every Monday beginning on Monday, August 24. If you choose to play, your first entry must be submitted to the Texan office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28. If you are the winning speculator for

the week, you get to take home $50 courtesy of First National Bank of Dalhart. You can find the rules and regulations in the football pages for further details of the contest.

For Dalhart, this year’s team has a promising lineup of talent, with several players whose football skill promises for an exciting football season. Both Varsity and JV teams are gearing up for their first games. Varsity’s first game will be August 28th at 7:30 p.m. in Sanford-Fritch. So buy your purple and gold streamers, get that war paint on, and rehearse your best Wolf howl because Dalhart is ready for some football!
