Julius Purnell earns 30-Year Certificate

Julius E. Purnell, Soil Conservationist, received a certificate for the completion of 30 years of service from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service formerly the Soil Conservation Service.

Purnell was born and raised in Port Gibson, MS. Upon graduation from Port Gibson High School, he entered Alcorn State University. He graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science Degree on Animal Science. After graduation, Purnell started his career as a Soil Conservationist in Mt. Pleasant, Texas for three years. In 1982 he transferred to Panhandle, where he worked for 10 years as a Soil Conservationist. On June 1, 1992, he transferred to Dalhart where he has worked for 17 years as a Soil Conservationist. Purnell provides technical assistance to the Dallam Soil and Water Conservation District. Purnell assists landowners and operators to install conservation practices and programs.
