Friday August 14th marks the day that Ronald McDonald, the “Chief Happiness Officer” for McDonald’s Corporation, will make a visit to Dalhart.  Children of every age are invited to meet Ronald at the Rita Blanca Pavilion beginning at 6:00 p.m.

KXIT Radio personality Jesse Torres will broadcast live from the Pavilion during Ronald’s visit.  The celebration also marks the 30th Anniversary of the McDonald’s Happy Meal.  The event promises an evening of fun, games, popcorn and cotton candy.  Ronald will provide a magic and musical show and he plans to invite children from the audience to participate.  Children will have an opportunity to win prizes too.

Paul and Kara Hillman, owners of the McDonald’s located on Highway 87, are excited about Ronald’s visit.  A visit is also scheduled for the Dumas restaurant while he’s in the area.  On Saturday, August 15th he’ll visit the Dumas McDonald’s at 11:00 a.m., and then on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m., he’ll be at the Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo located at 4110 S. Loop 335.  All of the upcoming events are free to the public, except that admission fees apply at the Speedway.

The Hillman’s want everyone to remember to bring a camera for fun photos.  A photographer will also be on hand taking photographs, which will be posted the following week at McDonald’s.  The event is set to take place at the Rita Blanca Pavilion so that guests will have plenty of room to park and enjoy the evening.

In conjunction with the 30th Anniversary of the Happy Meal, information about McWorld, a place on the Internet for kids to visit, play games and earn points, will be included.  Kara stated, “Kids will have fun going to this website and earning points.”  Another website of interest is the Ronald McDonald site.  Information about Ronald and the Ronald McDonald House and Charity is available on that page.

Ronald McDonald has been called the second most recognizable figure in the world, the first being Santa Clause.
