Four Dallam County men sentenced
For the Texan
Four Dallam County men were sentenced to a total of 129 years in the penitentiary this week for crimes committed in Dallam County in 2013 and early 2014. Under Texas law, a defendant has the right to choose whether to have a judge or jury determine his case. Each man waived a jury trial and elected to have their case decided by Ron Enns, Presiding Judge of the 69th District. All four men pleaded not guilty and all four men were convicted and sentenced to prison.
Torrey Michael Spaulding, age 33, was charged with burglary of a habitation and escape. A trial was held earlier this year in front of Judge Enns in which Spaulding was found guilty of both offenses.
