DISD signs two new contracts
By SARAH LOBLEY
Dalhart Independent School District recently signed two new contracts with GCA Inc., a custodial company, and Southwest Food Service Excellence. The cost of the contract with GCA, $500,000, is about the same as what the district has paid for employees and supplies in the past year. The district is guaranteed not to have to pay more than $20,000 to Southwest Food Service Excellence and they have an outside chance of breaking even.
In the past, the district has lost money, between $60,000 and $120,000 a year. This new contract will prevent that. There will be a few changes in the way things work around DISD schools. For one thing, the buildings will be cleaner and the staff will be better trained and more efficient.
